Today is that wedding I've been anticipating. I'm all set, and ready to go; this will be a happy day! I've been passing my time the past week with preparation for the wedding, as well as preparing my new website! The site will grow to become a great place for photography resources, and more details about what I'm up to, so be sure to check in from time to time.

I've been hired to photograph a wedding next month. I am thrilled to say that I'll be working with an established client. This is exactly what I want to do - I hope to be your "family photographer" - the person you think of when you have an occasion, event, or even a business situation that requires some photos.
I'm very excited, but seeing that I've sort of been on leave of absence, I feel the need to sharpen my skills! I was looking back at photos from the last wedding I shot, and I sure have learned a lot since then!
Now that I'm in a position to re-focus on my photography, I can buckle down and prepare for this event. It will be laid-back, small, and somewhat casual - but it's still a wedding. I need to bring heart, hope, and love to the story. I am excited about the project, and looking forward to a change of pace. I am grateful to be better-equipped - not only with more photographic skill and knowledge, but with more powerful and useful equipment as well. These things will allow me to be more fluid throughout the day, so I'll be more capable of capturing beauty in each moment.

So November has been a flop as far as sharing new photos with the world. But my life has been filled to the top with adventure! Tomorrow is December already! Who's ready for 2009?
Some work I've done recently:
I slept for 11 hours straight yesterday. I woke up because my body was tired of being in bed! I've been so over-extended these last two months. I vowed that I would post here no less than weekly, and it just hasn't happened in November. I apologize for that - but as this month winds down, my life will chill too, so we'll be back in business!!
For now, here's some artwork I've cooked up that reminds me of the coming season. :)
I am so excited to be working on these portraits! They are such a handsome family, their children are vibrant and full of love, and the mom's sister is one of my closest friends! How could I possibly curb my enthusiasm? We had perfect weather in a perfect location on top of it all. Sometimes everything just falls into place.
I can't believe how easy it is to forget how small babies really are. Most of my work (for one reason or another) tends to be with toddlers. What a treat it was to work with a baby again - a little baby who would pretty much do whatever I request of her! She was a tiny little one, having arrived a month early. I love working with families and experiencing the excitement of a new little person in their lives. I can't wait to do it again!
I can't imagine a week has already passed since I last posted, but I guess it's true.
I spent the past weekend in Chicago, working with some clients - both old and new! I really do love this job! It was great to see this family again - their little guy sure has grown! For a while he would only cooperate if we were in the (unfinished) basement - that was a new one for me! We got some awesome pictures, though, despite the unique location. It just confirmed my belief that you can get great pictures anywhere!
I haven't really been busy with photography necessarily (although I've had as much as I can handle this month... and more to do this weekend), but boy, have I been BUSY!!! If you happen to be a regular here, you must be able to tell. I never let more than a week pass by without a new post. But now, here today, I prove to you that I am, in fact, not perfect. I'm sorry if I have disappointed you.
But seeing that it has been a while, I have a few photos to make up for it. I had a chance to use my supplemental lighting outside, and wow - what a cinch! Although the umbrella and stand can be cumbersome at times, it was totally worth it, and a breeze to work with. This certainly won't be the last time I'll be getting that stuff out...
This is the sweetest little guy you'll ever meet. So inquisitive! I told him I had a kitty in my pocket, which I would show him after some photos (yeah, I'm a big liar when I'm trying to get attention from a kid... good thing the parents are always around!), and he was pretty concerned about where it had gone when we finished up. He really wanted to know why it ran away, and where it could have gone! He was so full of questions about anything and everything - he even got really interested in pulling weeds. What a fun kid to work with, and a great family too. Life is sweet right now, and these guys remind me what family is all about.
